My Books
twelve.
Published in 2018
This book is a collection of poetry separated into 12 sections - one for each month, begining in August and ending in July.
When I was 17 I made the bold decision to leave Pennsylvania for college and find a new adventure in (the best city in the world) Montreal, Canada. It wasn't the easiest transition for me so early on I decided to utilize writing as a source of companionship and to document my experience.
Throughout this project I taught myself how to self-publish and I did everything from cover design and page layout to editing and marketing. I honestly have never been more proud of something and not because the writing is amazing or it sold a ton of copies but because I was able to set out with a goal and create something tangible. I was able to translate a hard experience into something beautiful and I gained the confidence to share my work with the world.
This was truly my first design project. I got comfortable teaching myself new skills, finding answers, prototyping, iterating (I did A LOT of iterating), and trusting myself as a designer.

Writing has always been an outlet for me so it wasn't shocking that six months into 2020 I had 100+ pieces of poetry and prose. I made the decision to publish a collection of them with the goal of raising money for 3 amazing organizations - The Okra Project, The Jed Foundation, and The Immigrant Worker Safety Net Fund.
Through book sales, I was able to raise $500+ for these organizations and spread a little light during a dark time.
